GHANA: AKUFO OWIREDU OF GOLDEN STAR RESOURCES RECOGNIZED BY ACCRA MINING NETWORK FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS IN MINING SECTOR

President and Chairman of the Local Board of Directors for the Golden Star Resources Limited (GSRL), a gold mining company operating in Wassa and Prestea in the Western Region, Mr Daniel Monney Akufo Owiredu, has been recognized by the Accra Mining Network (AMN), ostensibly for his illustrious and outstanding contributions to the mining industry in Ghana.

Mr Owired who provided outstanding contributions to the mining sector for more than three decades and worked exceptionally hard and with excellence at Obuasi, Bibiani and Wassa was honoured by the Accra Mining Network, the extractive organization which brings together professionals in the mining industry in Ghana.

The ceremony was held by the leadership of AMN on Wednesday January 15, 2020 at the conference hall of the Salt and Light Ministries at Abelemkpe in Accra amidst joy of the well-wishers, friends, families and sympathisers of Mr Owiredu.

Mr Owiredu was recognized as one of the members of the Ghana Chamber of Mines who brings progress to the mining sector and received a citation.

The citation reads in part:

For your outstanding contributions to the mining sector for more than three decades, having worked exceptionally hard and with excellence at Obuasi, Bibiani and Wassa, just to mention a few, and becoming the President of Ghana Chamber of Mines once upon a time, and for your progressive exemplary leadership, especially at Golden Star Resources from being the Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, and becoming the President and Chairman of the Local Board of Directors, a transition which culminated in an underground mine portal being named after you at the Wassa Mine, Accra Mining Network recognizes these as worth emulating and contemporarily unique achievements with citation this day of December 2019 AD. Congratulation to Mr Daniel Monney Akufo Owiredu.”
