A cross-section of Mion Constituecy Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region have made a swift intervention by helping resolve the impasse between the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Mion District Assemblly, Alhaji Abdallah Hashim, and some irate factions of youth of the NPP in the area.

The impasse between the DCE and youth was resolved in the well-arranged meeting held on Monday January 20, 2020 in the NPP office in Mion, being facilitated by the DCE and supported by Mion Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Abubakari Sayibu and Constituency Youth Organiser, Mr Osman Mutala.

The DCE was reported to have forgiven the youth for attacking his integrity because his checks revealed that the youth who have exhibited such act had done it out of ignorance, frustration and influence by some self-seeking NPP top shots in Mion, ostensibly to create the impression that the DCE was under performance thereby creating divisions and disunity in the area.

The misunderstanding arose for which the youth resorted to petition President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and copied the National Chairman of the NPP, Northern Regional Chairman, Northern Regional Minister, NPP Council of Elders, Mion constituency Chairman and Mion Youth Organizer and called for the removal of the DCE out of office.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s office in Mion, on Friday, January 17, 2020, the spokesperson for the group said the over two and half years stay in office of Mr. Abdallah Hashim as DCE, Mion has not seen any major development in the area, “no single community in Mion has been connected to the national electricity grid.”

The NPP youth noted that, electrification is going to play a major role in the 2020 elections in the constituency” yet the Mion District still remains the least coverage of electricity in the Northern Region”.

Mr. Abdul Jalil added that, the performance of the Mion DCE in other sectors is equally abysmal, “that he cannot visit some of our communities for campaign.”

He noted that, if care is not taken immediately the actions and inactions of Hon Abdallah Hashim will thwart the fortunes of the party in the upcoming 2020 general elections, saying that, Mr. Hashim has not only lost touch with the entire membership of the party but the whole Mion district.

The Mion NPP irate Youth leader said, the gross disrespect shown by the DCE to members of the party is an attempt to sabotage the party’s  chances in the upcoming general elections, adding that, the Mion DCE is the reason the party performed poorly in the last elections.

The NPP Youth further accused the DCE of campaigning against the 2020 NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Mr Musah Abdul Aziz Ayaba.

“The DCE has organized a series of programs in our communities without the parliamentary candidate and this situation is very disturbing and has the tendency of breaking down the party” he stated.

But in a sharp rebuttal, the DCE vehemently rubbished the statement made by the youth in their press conference against him.

The DCE being a submissive leader and getting the support of the Mion Constituency Executives Chairman, Alhaji Abubakari Saayim and the Constituency Youth Organiser, Mr Osman Mutala, met the aggrieved NPP youth to further listen to their grievances and concerns in order to forge unity and peace within the NPP in Mion.

During the meeting, some of the youth who had meted out the attack to the DCE were reported to have noted that they were misled by their leaders to verbally attack the integrity of the DCE.

The youth openly pleaded with the DCE to forgive them.

Fortunately, the Mion Constituency Executive Chairman, Alhaji Abubakari Saayim and the Constituency Youth Organiser, Mr Osman Mutala who presided over the meeting managed to broker peace between the DCE and aggrieved NPP youth.

Addressing the media after the reconciliation meeting, the DCE explained that having listened to the aggrieved youth in an atmosphere of openness and frankness, it was realized that a communication vacuum that has been created, resulted in the misunderstanding between the feuding factions, cognizant of other underlying factors which have all been resolved.

He stated that the NPP government is focused on delivering on its promises with the main aim of improving the living standards of Ghanaians and therefore will ensure that all teething issues likely to affect it are dealt with.

The DCE assured the youth, supporters and members of the NPP in the area that the party is ready to snatch the parliamentary seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 showdown and so he called for their support to achieve that objective.
