Management of the Ghana National Service Secretariat (NSS) is directing all eligible Ghanaian final year students from all accredited tertiary institutions across the country to start the enrollment process for their mandatory national service for the 2020/2021 service year between 24th April, 2020 and 31st May, 2020.
As part of the process, each prospective service personnel is required to pay an amount of GHC 40 or GHC 41 at any branch of the Agricultural Development Bank Limited anywhere in the country or through MTN Mobile Money (MoMO) to generate an activation code.
A press statement released by the Secretariat on Friday, 24th April, 2020 indicates that “All prospective national service personnel are hereby requested to visit the scheme’s website www.nss.gov.gh to access their PIN Codes with their respective Index Numbers and Date of Birth and proceed to any branch of Agricultural Development Ltd. (ADB) throughout the country to make payment of an amount of GHC 40.00”.
“For those who resort to PIN Code activation via MTN Mobile Money, payment of an amount of GHC 41.00 is required” the statement adds.
Some Eleven Thousand, Six Hundred and Thirteen (11,613) Ghanaian final year students who are expected to graduate from all the accredited tertiary institutions in the country this year (2020) are required by law to do a one-year national service. They shall be posted to various government and private institutions across the country to contribute their quota in building the country.
The NSS, established by the Government of Ghana in 1973 under the Ghana Education Service, is the agency mandated to formulate policies and structures for national service.
