MTN Ghana Foundation has inaugurated a multi-purpose ultra modern ICT laboratory, library and robotic center in Ablekuma West Municipality as part of its corporate social responsibility.

According to Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, the CEO of MTN Ghana, the project which commenced a year ago, is intended to provide the Dansoman community with a means for acquisition of skills and knowledge to enable the younger generation  to invent, innovate and optimize their potentials for the benefits of the citizenry.

Speaking at the inauguration of the library in Accra-Dansoman, on November 24, 2020, the CEO said        “the multi-purpose ultra-modern ICT library, laboratory and robotic is in accordance with MTN Foundation’s corporate social investment strategy, it’s the first modern library in Ghana including ICT component and robotic lab”.

According to Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, the ICT revolution has taken the world by the storm and has transformed the ways of life including the method of teaching and learning such as online studies in the era of Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr.  Adadevoh told Africa  Nakua’s Jerry Akornor that providing ultra modern integrated ICT library and robotics center “will scale up acquisition of skills and knowledge to whip up the interest of the Dansoman youth to become the world champions in various fields. It’s a journey to achieving Ghana’s agenda of digital economy”

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West and Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has pledged commitment of her outfit is to provide the youth with digital tools to stir up their innovative spirits. According to her projects such as Girls in ICT, the Ghana Tech Lab and recent agreement with the International Telecommunication Union to provide over 14,000 young people with job ready digital skills formed part of the Ministry’s digital agenda.

She told Africa Nakua that the Communications Ministry is “aggressively pursuing an agenda to help young people to unearth their potentials”.

The project which was initiated by Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly costs over GHC 770,000, is intended to enhance Ebenezer Senior High School and the Dansoman community.
